Shilpa Shetty's mother granted bail

Sunanda Shetty, mother of film actress Shilpa Shetty, and an accused in an extortion case, was on Thursday granted anticipatory bail till June 12 by a sessions court in Mumbai.

Sessions judge Hemant Deshpande granted the bail on a surety of Rs 40,000.

The judge also granted bail to Bhupendra Singh Sachdev, secretary of Shilpa Shetty.

Both have been asked to appear before a court in Surat on June 12 and seek bail from a regular court there.

Both are facing charges of extorting money from an industrialist, which he reportedly owed to the actress for a modelling assignment.
