Nandy ropes in Fox to distribute 'Jhankaar Beats'

May 23, 2003 21:54 IST

In a move indicative of the growing interest that international studios are taking in mainstream Hindi cinema, Hollywood's leading distribution company 20th Century Fox has acquired the all-India distribution rights of Sujoy Ghosh's Jhankaar Beats.

Produced under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications, this is the first Hindi film to be acquired by 20th Century Fox.

Aditya Shastri, managing director of the company's Indian operations, says, "We have been waiting for the right film to enter the Indian distribution market. Going by the popularity of the film's music and its youthful appeal, it will definitely bring a breather to the box office."

The film, which stars Juhi Chawla, Riya Sen, Rinke Khanna, Rahul Bose and Sanjay Suri, will be released on June 20.
