Who's Bollywood's busiest actor?
Vivek Oberoi is the busiest actor in Mumbai. Post Saathiya, his career is upbeat. He is now working on debutant Samir Karnik's Kyon? Ho Gaya Na, also featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
"I shoot all night and sleep during the day," he reveals. With a film with Kareena Kapoor on the anvil, his career is moving forward quickly. According to mentor Ram Gopal Varma, "If Dum clicks, Vivek's market will soar even more."
Abhishek resumes work
The chautha ceremony for the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan saw almost every important film personality at the Bachchan home, Prateeksha in Juhu, suburban Mumbai.
"It was comforting to see so many people making the time and effort to condole grandpa's death," says Abhishek. "There were so many people, yet it was wonderfully managed since the guests arrived through the day rather than all together."
Singer Hariharan sang bhajans for almost 90 minutes. On Friday, the Bachchans leave for Varanasi and Allahabad to immerse the patriarch's ashes in the Ganga.
While Amitabh has cancelled shooting for the 13-day mourning period, Abhishek will return to Jaisalmer after his visit to Allahabad and Varanasi to resume shooting for Apoorva Lakhia's Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost. "The shooting has come to a standstill. They are all waiting for me patiently," he says.
Remaking Mughal-e-Azam?
There is speculation Rajkumar Santoshi, director of Ghayal, Damini and The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, will remake K Asif's Mughal-e-Azam. Amitabh will be Akbar while son Abhishek will play the Mughal emperor's son Salim, so goes the buzz, with Aishwarya etching the Anarkali part.
Santoshi is busy with his cop project Khaki starring Amitabh, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar and Ash and says he has no plans of redoing the Asif classic.
Amitabh and Abhishek will work on Rakesh Mehra's next film, which will begin shooting later this year.
Govinda's new career moves
"My predicament is that of a king waiting for his crown," laughs Govinda. As quick on the uptake as ever, he is unfazed by his flops in 2002 and acknowledges they were doomed.
"I wanted to get over my backlog. Now I only have two films on hand, Subhash Ghai's Ek Aur Ek Gyarah and a comedy produced by Smita Thackeray. After that, I will start on a clean slate and do only one film at a stretch. That's why I am not signing anything new."
