Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost is ordinary fare

Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost is the story of a village that does not have electricity.
The film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta together for the first time. The story revolves around Kanji (Abhishek) whose gift to his grandfather (a television set) ignites a power struggle, which leads to all kinds of chaos.
Instead of focussing on the power struggle, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost runs into several other tracks that look completely out of place and derail the film.
The characters of Hari (who is obsessed with moustaches) and Abdul are a waste. Aditya Lakhia who acted as Kachra in Lagaan is a complete disappointment. The character of Chunky Pandey and the sequences where he tries hard to evoke humour fall totally flat.
Needless to say, Abhishek Bacchan's acting needs huge improvement if he wants to survive in the industry. This is the right time for him to rethink if he wants to remain in this line or do something else. Lara Dutta is okay in some of the scenes.
I want to advise the director (Apoorva Lakhia) to stop thinking of winning Indian awards, leave alone the Oscars.
Overall, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost is an ordinary movie that fails to create a lasting impact.
