Juhi Chawla
'Juhi not campaigning for BJP'
Star surprised at report that she will hit the election trail in Gujarat

Syed Firdaus Ashraf

Actress Juhi Chawla will not campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates in Gujarat.

K S Sanjay, the actress' secretary, told rediff.com, "I don't know where this news about Juhi campaigning for the BJP came from. This has come as a surprise to Juhi."

Asked if the star had been requested to campaign in Gujarat by BJP leaders, Sanjay said, "Neither was Juhi approached by any BJP leader nor did she met any BJP leader regarding the election campaign."

One newspaper reported on Thursday that 1970s superstar Hema Malini and Chawla would campaign for the BJP in Gujarat. The assembly election is scheduled to be held on December 12.

After her first child was born last year, Chawla took a break from the movies. She will next be seen in Nagesh Kukunoor's Teen Deewarein and Sujoy Ghosh's Jhankar Beats, both slated for release in January.
