Sandeep Chowta
Sandeep Chowta to collaborate with Fatboy Slim
The Khallas composer is all set to stir the international music scene

Rohini Iyer

Sandeep Chowta is one of the few music composers today with the knack of delivering one hit after the other every year. Last year, it was Kambakth ishq (Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya). This year, it is Khallas (Company).

Now, as his score in Deepa Mehta's Bollywood/Hollywood is making waves abroad, one hears that Sandeep is soon to set to compose music with popular Britain group Fatboy Slim. Fatboy Slim, has come emerged as a powerful musical force since 1999 with successful singles like Right here right now, Praise you, Drop the hate to their credit.

Apparently, the composer was offered this deal on his recent trip to London and he has accepted it. Sandeep had just returned from London when we contacted him. "Where did you get this news?" he sounded incredulous.

On further cajoling, he said, "Yes, I should be collaborating with Fatboy Slim, but I can't divulge any more details. The negotiations are still on."

Sandeep who stays in Chennai, like A R Rahman and is just as elusive as him, is now working on the release of his own album. A breakthrough of sorts in the music industry, his album has totally lounge music. Though it combines Indian music with Western beats, the soul is desi.

This album has apparently kicked up a storm on the international music scene.
