Fardeen gets his birthday gift

The mood: Dim red lights, red carnations, rave music.

The classy and impressively done decors of the newly opened J W Marriott Hotel was over flowing with the high society and Bollywood glitz blitz.

The walls on the entrance sported heart shaped paper cuts stating 'Either you are happy or you're married' logos.

Another noticeable feature was a marriage mandap  decorated with floral motifs and the mandatory pundit.

The occasion: It is time for double celebrations for actor Fardeen Khan. It was the good-looking hunk’s birthday on March 8 as well as the launch of his new film Shaadi.com.

Launched under the banner of FK International, Shaadi.com signifies the state of marital affairs in the cyber age.

Interestingly it is the first ever film to be produced under Feroz Khan but not to be directed by the actor/filmmaker himself.

Instead Hansal Mehta of Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar fame will be doing the honours. The mahurat (the film's launch) shot was scanned on the lead pair-Fardeen Khan and former Miss India Celina Jaitley. The film also stars new find Pinky Virmani and Paresh Rawal in important roles.

Dressed in a resplendent red bridal outfit, Celina looks gorgeous. Earlier adorning a black suit, Fardeen has now changed into cream silk kurta, dhoti and angvastra.

Fardeen’s sister Laila claps the board and the shot shows the young lead squabbling with each other as they prepare to tie the knot, much to the dismay of the clueless pundit.

Amidst cheers and applause, Feroz Khan, clad in a flashy orange shirt and black suit, introduces his cast and crew, calling the writer-director duo-Suparn Verma and Hansal Mehta the blonde and brunette team, thanks to their newly acquired streaks.

"I hope Shaadi.com doesn’t meet the fate that all dotcom ventures are facing today" is all Fardeen would say. Biddu and Raju Singh share the music credits.

Also making its presence felt was a striking poster from Feroz Khan’s under production Jaanasheen.

"I know I gave a flop last time, but I hope to give you a hit this time around," the senior Khan quipped.

The guests: Once the formalities of the launch of Shaadi.com were done with, the guests hit the bar or the dance floor. Fardeen’s mom-Sundari, dad, sister and heroines flanked him as he cut his birthday cake.

The entire Khan khandaan made its presence felt---Sanjay Khan, wife Zarine Khan.

Their daughter Suzzane came but of course with hubby Hrithik Roshan in tow. The couple looked dashing in black. As usual, Hrithik became the center of attraction and was seen signing autographs on the palms of starry eyed fans.

Hrithik’s co-star of Koi Mil Gaya, Preity Zinta, was there too, however she hung out with Suzanne only.

Rakesh Roshan, Randhir Kapoor, Ram Gopal Varma and Karan Johar were among the other luminaries to be present at the function.

Designers Anna Singh in a pixie cut purple ensemble and Rocky S in faded denims didn't get unnoticed either.

Comedienne Archana Puran Singh stuck to husband Parmeet Sethi like glue. Actor Rahul Khanna chose to remain low profile, as he was in a serious conversation with someone.

The party: Without wasting much time, a famished Hrithik marched towards the food and gorged down the delicacies.

The rest of the clan preferred gulping down wine and champagne.

The high point of the night was when the dashing birthday boy-Fardeen hit the dance floor and boogied to his hit number-Kambakht ishq from Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
