Ajay Devgan [The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Deewangee]

Knowing he didn't look like Bhagat Singh and was in fact a few years older when the patriot died, Devgan used his intensity to great effect and played the role with conviction. Combined with some powerful lines and patriotic scenes, his portrayal in The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, stood head and shoulders above the other Bhagat Singhs.

Devgan's character from Deewangee would be counted among the list of 'villains.' But since Devgan, as an obsessed lover pretending to be schizophrenic to escape a murder rap, practically chewed up the scenery, he has to be considered the hero, anti though he may be. Quite a virtuoso performance.
