Soch and the UP connection
Two young men and a Bollywood dream

Sharat Pradhan in Lucknow

When two young men and a woman from Uttar Pradesh decided to pool in their resources and talent to make their mark in Bollywood 18 months ago, they were met with disbelief.

But Sushen Bhatnagar, Wajahat Kareem and his wife Surheeta got together to make Soch, a thriller that is scheduled for an August 23 release.

For Wajahat, a surgeon and Surheeta, a gynaecologist, this is their maiden venture into film production. Bhatnagar (35), a Film and Television Institute of India graduate, has directed television films, but Soch is his stepping stone into mainline Bollywood.

The three were in Lucknow to announce the launch of the movie. The story goes thus: Raj Mathew (Sanjay Kapoor) , a film star adores his wife Madhulika (Aditi Govitrikar), who is very insecure. Madhulika suspects her husband of having an affair with Priety Sardesai (Raveena Tandon), a choreographer-turned-director.

When Om (Arbaaz Khan) enters the lives of these people, he comes up with a solution to the problem: murder, which is eventually committed.

Who is the murdered and who is the murderer? "The answer," states Sushen to Rediff.com, "lies in Soch." He points out, "After all, it is the thought that kills."

Arbaaz Khan declares, "Apart from Sushen's directorial abilities, what impressed me most was Sushen the human being, with whom I would love to work again and again."

Bhatnagar is now ready with the script of Khayal, his next venture, which revolves around the life of a popular Sufi saint.
