Software major Infosys would wait for some more time before taking a decision on the future of its first development facility at Rajarhat near Kolkata.
"We will wait for more time for our campus Rajarhat," co-chairman of Infosys Kris Gopalakrishnan said. The West Bengal government had allotted 50 acres to Infosys at Rajarhat for which the company had paid Rs 75 crore (Rs 750 million).
But the company had not been able to start construction as the state was not willing to provide SEZ status for thecampus as sought by it.
Several meetings were held between top officials of Infosys and state government including industry minister Partha Chatterjee to persuade the company to set up shop here sans the SEZ status.
Instead, the government was keen on granting extension of the fiscal benefits provided under the STPI scheme.
