Amazing gadgets set for launch this year

This year will see launch of plethora of gadgets that will change the way we look, touch, feel and drive.

BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry 10 is an upcoming proprietary mobile operating system, developed by Research In Motion for its BlackBerry line of smartphone and tablet handheld devices.

It is based on QNX which was acquired by RIM in April 2010. RIM has claimed that there is no single line of code from the current BlackBerry legacy OS present in the new QNX based OS.

The platform was originally called BBX but this was changed when RIM was blocked from using the BBX trademark after legal action from BASIS International, who already uses it for their software.

Research In Motion CEO, Thorsten Heins, has said that the company is considering licensing BlackBerry 10 to other OEMs. BlackBerry 10 smartphones are scheduled to be released in Q1 of 2013.

On November 12, 2012, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins announced a January 30, 2013, launch of the BB10 system.

4K TVs and projectors

While the present day 1920 x 1080 resolution Full HD TVs give us an image of about two million pixels, a new generation of screens are expected soon that will deliver an eight million pixel image.

The technology has been called 4K, but from now on it will be referred as Ultra High Definition. These TVs have a resolution of 3840 x 2160, and can offer unmatched picture clarity.

Google Project Glass

Project Glass is a research and development programme by Google to develop an augmented reality head-mounted display.

Project Glass products would display information in smartphone-like format hands-free and could interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands.

It will be available to United States Google I/O developers for $1,500, shipping early in 2013, while a consumer version is slated to be ready within a year of that.

Samsung Galaxy S4

The new high-end smartphone is likely to be unveiled at a special Samsung event rather than at one of the upcoming trade shows.

It will include a five-inch Full HD display with an impressive 1920x1080 resolution. Such a display would boast an impressive pixel density of around 440 pixels per inch - significantly above the resolution of Apple's Retina display technology, according to DigiTimes.

A connected car is a car that is equipped with Internet access, and usually also with a wireless local area network. This allows the car to share Internet access to other devices both inside as outside the vehicle.
