Presenting the Interim Railway Budget for 2014-15, Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday announced a slew of measures for improving the services of Indian Railways.
Seventy-two trains are being introduced which includes 17 Premium trains, 38 Express trains, 10 Passenger trains, 4 MEMU and 3 DEMU in this year’s budget.
Anticipating healthier economic growth, the Railways has targeted a record Rs 1.6 lakh crore (Rs 1.6 trillion) in revenue for the next financial year, while no increase has been proposed in passenger fares and freight rates.
