The iconic Eiffel Tower has turned out to be Europe's most valuable monument.
A new study conducted by Italy's Monza and Brianza Chamber of Commerce valued Europe's monuments on the basis of its image, branding and aesthetic qualities.
1. Eiffel Tower, Paris
Value: 344 billion pounds
Named after engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower, the tower stands 320 metres (1,050 ft) tall.

Built in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it has become both a global cultural icon of France.
The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world. Around 7.1 million people visited it in 2011.
