The entry level car segment, which market pundits refer to as low-end, may see some action this Diwali as Hyundai is going to launch, Eon.
Dubbed as the 21st century's (Maruti) 800, this car is all set take on Alto with its style, substance, space, performance and fuel efficiency.
The festive season is the time when car manufacturers offer major discounts and freebies to lure customers and Hyundai has decided to cash in on the occasion with Eon.

To boost sales, car manufacturers including Maruti, Honda, Toyota, Fiat and Volkswagen are offering cash discounts, low interest rates on car loans and low insurance costs on their respective models.
Hyundai, the number two car maker in the country realised that to grab the numero-uno position it has to enter the segment dominated by Suzuki Alto.

Eon is a unique price-specific product.
Though more details of this small car are yet to be revealed but whatever we have managed to find from our sources, shows that the base variant of Eon would be priced around Rs 250,000.
As for its exterior looks, the new small car is a tall boy model, though not sharing the same proportions as Hyundai Santro.

As per sources in the industry the Hyundai Eon interiors are also well designed and are on the same line as Hyundai i10.
There is a CD player, USB port, remote central locking and tilt steering.
Just like Hyundai Santro, the Hyundai Eon also offers good boot space of around 215 L, but this in turn gives lesser leg room for the rear seat occupants.
The car offers a higher ground clearance to meet the Indian driving conditions.

The Hyundai Eon engine is the Santro IRDE 814 cc engine with 56 Bhp peak power output.

While Hyundai Eon is going to be the cheapest car offered by the Korean manufacturer so far, the hatchback will mainly compete with the Maruti's best-selling model Maruti Alto.
But there are rumours that Maruti Suzuki is going to launch a new Bharat IV version of the phased out model Maruti 800 next year.
Hyundai Eon is expected to be launched in both petrol and LPG variants.
