Automobile sector posted mixed results in March with some registering moderate to big jump in sales while others scored low as far as sales are concerned.

Ford India sales fall 38%
Car maker Ford India on Monday reported 38.28 per cent decline in its total sales in March this year at 7,499 units.
The company had sold a total of 12,150 units in the same month last year, Ford India said in a statement.
The domestic sales also went down by 41.61 per cent to 5,271 units in March this year as against 9,028 units in the same month last year, it added.
The company exported 2,228 units last month compared to 3,122 units in the year-ago period, registering a fall of 28.64 per cent.
Commenting on the sales performance, Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Vinay Piparsania said: "Despite the difficult business environment this quarter, we have continued to build our brand in India with the launch of the Figo Celebration and the Endeavour Alterrain editions.
"We see the current downturn as cyclical and expect stronger sales growth in the future."

Renault India March sales jump over 8-fold to 8,232 unit
Renault India on Monday reported an over eight-fold jump in sales in March this year at 8,232 units on the back of strong sales of its SUV Duster.
The company had sold a total of 1,005 vehicles during March 2012.
In March 2013, the sports utility vehicle Duster accounted for 6,313 units, sedan Scala 1,026 units, compact car Pulse 541 units, sedan Fluence 337 units and SUV Koleos 15 units, Renault India said in a statement.
Commenting on the numbers, Renault India Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) Sumit Sawhney said: "March was a tremendously successful month for Renault India, despite a challenging market."
Renault cars are produced at the manufacturing facility located in Oragadam, Chennai, with a capacity of 400,000 units per annum.

GM India March sales down 15%
General Motors India on Monday reported a 14.94 per cent decline in its sales at 9,006 units in March 2013.
The company had sold 10,588 units in the same month of 2012, General Motors India said in a statement.
During March 2013, the company sold 3,006 units of Beat, 3,272 units of Sail and 1,853 units of Tavera, it added.
"Despite offering various schemes, the show-room traffic has come down drastically and enquiry conversions are also not taking place.
"The market sentiment continues to remain subdued due to poor economic conditions and various other factors," GM India Vice President P Balendran said.
High interest rates, high fuel prices and political uncertainties have impacted the sales of automobile manufacturers, he added.
"We are not expecting any improvement in the short term, but there can be some movement during the festival season, which is also possible only if the interest rate comes down and economic situation improves in the coming months," Balendran said.

Mahindra & Mahindra posts 11% jump in sales
Auto-maker Mahindra & Mahindra on Monday reported 10.62 per cent increase in its total sales at 51,904 units in March 2013.
The company had sold 46,919 units in the same month in 2012.
For the entire 2012-13 financial year, the Mumbai-based utility vehicle major registered a rise of 16.60 per cent in its total sales at 5,63,373 units compared to 4,83,164 units in the previous fiscal, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.
In March this year, M&M's domestic sales stood at 49,225 units as against 44,260 units in the same month last year, up 11.22 per cent.
Total sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 25,847 units as against 22,961 units in March 2012, translating into 12.57 per cent increase.

Sales of the company's Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks and other four-wheeler commercial vehicles went up by 17.12 per cent last month to 17,212 units from 14,696 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
Commercial vehicle sales from Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd stood at 1,335 units during the month as against 1,514 units in the same month a year ago, a fall of 11.82 per cent.
M&M's exports rose marginally to 2,679 units during the month from 2,659 units in March 2012.
In 2012-13, the company's domestic sales went up by 16.94 per cent to 5,30,915 units from 4,53,987 units in FY'12.
Exports of the company in last fiscal rose by 11.25 per cent to 32,457 units from 29,176 units in the previous fiscal, the statement said.

Hyundai Motor India total sales down 5%
Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Monday reported 4.71 per cent fall in its total sales at 56,437 units in March 2013.
The company had sold 59,229 units in the corresponding month previous year, HMIL said in a statement.
In the domestic market, the company recorded a decline of 13.46 per cent in sales at 33,858 units compared to 39,122 units in the year-ago period, it added.
Exports of the company, however, went up by 12.29 per cent to 22,579 units during the month under review from 20,107 units in the same period last year, the statement said. "The slowdown of economy is impacting vehicle sales.
"Against large base of last year, there was a sharp drop in conversion of enquiries in the absence of any positive stimulus and sentiments," HMIL Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Rakesh Srivastava said.
The company foresees the pressure on volumes to continue till there is significant improvement in macro-economic factors, he added.
In the A2 segment (Eon, Santro, i10 and i20), the company sold 47,678 units, while sales in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) stood at 8,143 units in March 2013.
The company sold 50 units of the sports utility vehicle Santa Fe during the month. Sales of luxury sedan Sonata stood at 20 units, while Elantra witnessed 546 purchases.

Honda cars' domestic sales fall 9%
Honda Cars India Ltd on Monday reported 8.82 per cent decline in its domestic sales for March 2013 at 10,044 units.
The company had sold 11,016 units in the same month last year, HCIL said in a statement.
For the entire 2012-13 financial year, the company's sales went up by 35.01 per cent to 73,483 units from 54,427 units in the year-ago period, it added.
During March, the company sold 3,432 units of its flagship sedan City and 3,917 units of its small car Brio.
It also sold 21 units of premium sedan Accord. Besides, HCIL despatched 2,552 units of the yet-to-be launched sedan Amaze last month.
In addition to these sales, the company also exported a total of 345 units during March 2013.
