Mahindra to launch Verito Vibe on June 5

Verito Vibe, the new hatch from Mahindra & Mahindra, the launch of which has been eagerly awaited since the last quarter of 2012, rolling out in First week of June.

Positioned in the tremendously progressing utility vehicle segment of the Indian auto-industry, this utility vehicle will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra and others available in diesel and is being expected to bring its manufacturers the kind of booming sales that they haven't really been able to garner with their recent launches.

Power to the vehicle will come from the same Renault K9K 1.5-litre diesel engine, which puts out a modest 68bhp. The weight difference between the Vibe and regular Verito is expected to be marginal and hence the car's performance is likely to be similar to the Verito's.

There is no petrol engine option planned for the Vibe as Mahindra doesn't currently have a petrol engine that would qualify for the sub-four-meter excise benefits.

While it was initially believed to be a hatchback, but it's in fact a compact saloon - the boot is hinged not at the roof, but at the bottom of the rear windscreen.

Mahindra has given the Vibe a two-box appearance instead of the 'chopped saloon' look like the Indigo eCS and the Dzire.

Mahindra Verito Vibe price is expected to be around Rs 530,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will probably be produced at the manufacturer's Nasik manufacturing facility, where it also develops its Verito sedan.
