Nissan Micra, launched five months ago, has sold 4,500 units of its petrol version so far.
Now Nissan Motor's first Indian hatchback is scheduled to get a diesel variant soon, a prototype of the same was showcased at an ongoing auto show in the country.
The new diesel engine powered Nissan Micra will get the same motor that powers Mahindra Logan. The 1.5-litre DCI motor is capable of generating top power of 63bhp and 16.3kgm of max torque. The trims for the diesel version of the Micra will be XV and XV Premium.
The company has not revealed the price for Micra diesel, but it speculated to be start around Rs 450,000.

Features
The diesel variant is lower in height as compared to the petrol variant at 1525mm, while the petrol version is 1530mm. The top-end XV Premium version has 15inch wheels and wider tyres (175/60 R15) as against XV's 165/70 R14 tyres.
There are several features added and subtracted to the diesel Micra like it now has leather covered steering and gear knob and a body coloured rear spoiler. But on the downside features like a security alarm system, front passenger airbag, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist have gone missing.
Nissan Micra Diesel is a global hatchback with an affable appearance and engineered for easy handling and sprightly performance while realising class-competitive fuel efficiency.
The diesel-powered Micra comes with fuel economy of 23.08 kmpl.

Positioned in the B+ car segment, the Micra diesel is powered with the 1.5-litre common rail direct injection K9K diesel engine which is mounted for the first time in the country on Nissan's 'V' platform.
Nissan dealerships across the country have already commenced bookings for the diesel-powered Micra from November 7.
Nissan Motor India's managing director & CEO, Kiminobu Tokuyama, said, "The success of the petrol-powered Micra in the domestic market has given us huge confidence to introduce the diesel-powered Micra within six months from the petrol version."

"The diesel-powered Micra with its best-in-class fuel efficiency and unique features has the potential to carve a niche for itself in the overcrowded compact hatchback segment in India," he said.
It will be available in two variants of XV and XV (premium). Available with greige interiors, it will be introduced in a range of six colours.

It will be marketed and sold in India and subsequently exported to South Africa next year, the release said.
Why a diesel Micra?
With a powerful and appreciated 1.5 dCI motor known to be fuel efficient the Nissan Micra gets an edge over competition. Due to its design and low kerb weight the car will be a powerful option in its category. The company has started pre-order bookings of Micra diesel, which goes on sale in December 2010.
Petrol Micra
The petrol variant of the car is competitively priced between Rs 398,000-529,000 and it comes in three variants including XE (Rs 398,000), XL (Rs 469,000) and XV (Rs 529,000) -- ex-showroom, Delhi.

It has a 1.2L, three-cylinder DOHC 1198cc petrol engine capable of producing 75 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 104 NM of torque at 4,000 rpm. The petrol variant comes with driver airbags and tilt adjustable steering as standard features.
Nissan Motor India on Thursday said that the nation-wide sales of the diesel variant of its Micra will commence from December 10.

The car, which has been codenamed L02B, has been built on the Nissan's V-platform.

It is powered by a 1498cc four-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing max power of 100 bhp and a max torque of 13.8 kgm. On the diesel front the car is also likely to get an 83 bhp diesel unit.
On the inside the Nissan Sunny has a round central console pod and Micra-like vents, front seats and steering.
The saloon has a wheelbase of 2500 mm which is bigger than Micra's 2450 mm. It also has a restyled back, nose and roof.
The fuel efficiency of the car is being expected to be good due to its low kerb weight and Nissan's V-platform.
The car is expected to be launched in September next year in the price tag of Rs 7.5 lakh (Rs 750,000) to Rs 10 lakh (Rs 1 million).

Maruti SX4
Pictures of a Kizashi-like SX4 have surfaced on the Internet and car lovers are enthusiastic about this face-lifted sedan.
The styling changes visible on the pictures include a new chrome finished grill, re-styled sharper looking headlamps, new front bumper and redone tail-lamps.
