The Sear's Tower rises above the skyline in Chicago, Illinois.

The building's name has been changed to Willis Tower after London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings moved into the building.

The building, once the tallest in the world, was built in the 1970s to house the offices of the then largest retailer in the world Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Empire State Building.

The Empire State Building, one of the world's most iconic buildings in New York city. Malkin Holdings LLC., the family-owned company that supervises the portfolio of office properties that includes the Empire State Building, has filed notice with the Securities and Exchange Commission acknowledging that it may become a publicly traded company.

The filing could pave the way for an Initial Public Offering, or IPO, thus making the Empire State Building part of a publicly traded real estate investment company.

The Solaire is the country's first environmentally responsible residential tower and consumes 35 percent less energy and 50 percent less potable water than typical buildings.

The building is equipped with solar panels and is the first new residential construction in lower Manhattan since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower.

The landmark Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Brooklyn, is seen through the large windows of the new Atlantic Terminal Pavilion of the Long Island Rail Road.

The light-filled atrium, six years in the making, is built of limestone, granite and glass and connects New York's storied Long Island Rail Road to ten subway lines, serving 50,000 commuters daily.
