The experts participating in the ongoing '8th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Conference of Director Generals of Immigration on management of migratory flows' in Goa stressed on the need to encourage students' mobility to various destinations.
Countries should also relax work permit or visa rules so as to enable them take up work in respective destinations where they are imparted the skills, the experts said.
The first session of the two-day-long conference that began on Tuesday with address by Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, discussed international cooperation on migration and development presentation of case studies.
The participants, including European Commission, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and directors General of Immigration, emphasised that language training should be given thrust. "Many a times not knowing the language turns out to be a barrier," they pointed out.
Hailing the mobility partnership agreement signed by India and Denmark, the conclave unanimously felt that there should be more such agreements between countries so as to facilitate the flow of skilled labour to these destinations.
