Wipro Infotech bags largest IT outsourcing deal

It has bagged a contract for providing comprehensive IT outsourcing services to HDFC Bank. The contract is valued at approximately Rs 360 crore ($80 million) over a period of 10 years. Wipro Infotech is the India, Middle East and Asia-Pacific division of the $1.87 billion Wipro Ltd.

The deal involves provisioning of IT infrastructure on a build-own-operate basis for existing and new branches of HDFC Bank. Wipro will provide comprehensive infrastructure management services for data centres, networks and end-user equipment.

"We expect to achieve faster time to market, in expanding our network across the country and optimising our IT costs. Wipro's expertise across technology platforms, a nationwide support network and the best-in-class processes will ensure consistent and geo-agnostic quality service delivery," C N Ram, head - IT, HDFC Bank, said.

Suresh Vaswani, president - Global IT Service Lines & Wipro Infotech, said, "HDFC Bank has always been at the forefront in adopting leading edge technologies and IT services for competitive advantage. Our total outsourcing practice enables the bank to leverage global best practices for service delivery and technology deployment. Our focus and investments in the total outsourcing business have enabled us to win this contract of global size." 

Anand Sankaran, vice-president, global IT outsourcing, Wipro Infotech, said, "The key differentiator in the HDFC Bank win was our programme governance framework, our customer-friendly engagement model and technology depth. All three are critical elements in ensuring long-term success of the relationship. We launched our total outsourcing business 18 months ago, and this is our fifth consecutive win."
