Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Cable & Wireless have tied up to provide enhanced global connectivity services to Indian corporate customers in the IT-enabled Services segment.
"The number of Indian IT and ITES companies with global operations is growing and so is their requirement for efficient international network. The C&W-VSNL alliance aims to address this growing need for high-speed global connectivity," TATA Indicom enterprise business unit president Sandeep Mathur told reporters in Mumbai on Wednesday.
With this tie-up, corporate customers like financial institutions, IT companies and business process outsourcing service providers could access C&W's global network through VSNL's domestic and international access infrastructure, Mathur said.
Customers would have access to services like asynchronous transfer mode, secure dial, multi-protocol label switching, Internet Protocol, virtual private network with quality of service and managed private line, he said.
Global network nodes for facilitating this service have been set up in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, he said, adding all C&W branded services would be offered in India under the Tata Indicom brand.
On the future growth plans of VSNL, Mathur said the company has earmarked Rs 33,000 crore (Rs 330 billion) for improvement and expansion of its existing infrastructure.
