A 30-member delegation of venture capitalists will visit India with a view to understand and explore the country's economic scenario.

The group of VCs, including JP Morgan Partners, Bay Partners and Sigma Partners, would visit Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad between January 31 to February 7, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Mumbai, said in a release on Monday.

The delegation, which manages funds in excess of $500 billion, potentially could influence more than 500 portfolio companies that were seeking cross-border business opportunities, it said.

The objective of the mission was to leverage the increasing globalisation of TiE to foster cross-boundary entrepreneurial activities, TiE Mumbai president Mahesh Murthy said.

The delegation would meet key players throughout India's corporate sector, including policy-makers and leading service providers, he said.

"A new program called 'Deal Flow Meeting Program' has been initiated to provide a forum for entrepreneurs and VCs. These meetings will be held in Mumbai and Bangalore," he said.

The VCs would also visit several offshore development centres to gain an understanding of the industry, he added.
