'US Airways could fail next month'

August 14, 2004 14:10 IST

US Airways faces a possible second bankruptcy filing next month and even liquidation if it fails to reach a new agreement with its unions, according to a consultancy firm.

The Arlington (Virginia)-based carrier will 'fail within the immediate foreseeable future,' Glanzer and Co., a consultancy firm that advised the airline's pilot union, said in a report.

It listed the limited choices left for the company's employees as they face an additional $800 million in cuts the company is seeking.

Other analysts, however, are quoted by The Washington Post as saying that while US Airways is headed towards bankruptcy, it won't be as soon as the Glanzer report predicts.
