Dick Cheney to address USIBC meet

Vice-President Richard B Cheney and Senator Joe Biden will deliver keynote addresses at an all-day Leadership Summit in Washington on implementing the India-US strategic partnership on Thursday hosted by the US Chamber's US-India Business Council.

The USIBC marks its 31st anniversary with the summit that would conclude with a gala reception and a sitar recital by Anoushka Shankar.

India-US strategic alignment, economic convergence and deepening trade relations will be the focus of the discussion as well as the importance of the Civilian Nuclear Cooperation Agreement between the two countries now pending in Congress.

The

summit will include American and Indian industry leaders and top government officials.

Besides Indian Ambassador to US Ronen Sen, Under Secretary for Political Affairs R Nicholas Burns, US Trade Representative, Ambassador Susan C Schwab, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Joseph Biden, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath, Assistant to the President for Economic Policy Allan Hubbard, Senior Vice-President, US Chamber of Commerce Lt General (Retd) Daniel Christman, are expected to address the meeting.
