McAfee launches new security products

US-based McAfee, Inc., leading global company in intrusion prevention and risk management solutions, on Thursday announced the launch of its new 2006 versions of security products in India.

The products have been designed to combat the widening threats to home PC security posed by identity thieves, e-mail "phishing" scams, viruses, potentially unwanted programme, such as spyware, a company statement said.

McAfee's 2006 product line helps prevent threats and protect consumers from a variety of Internet security threats, it said.

Phishing has become one of the most notorious of security scams using e-messages that appear to be from a legitimate bank or online auction site to trick unsuspecting users into divulging financial account and/or Social Security information. In addition, the product line helps identity and remove persistent, unwanted or inappropriate Internet marketing programme, it said.

"Our consumer business is booming globally and India is a important market for us," Monica Kelly, consumer business manager APAC, McAfee, said in the statement.

She said, Indian consumers were well on their way into the digital era and the digital lifestyle exposes more access points to intrusion, and in response, McAfee's consumer products are developed to provide multiple layers of prevention, protection and detection for inbound and outbound Internet communications.
