Bangalore-based Shining Emotional Surplus, a product design firm and management consultancy, is set to change the fortunes of the UPS system by providing it a new look.
The firm has designed a UPS system, which in many ways resembles a Greek warrior's helmet. With lots of colour splashed all over it, the UPS system is indeed an eye-stopper.
"The unique design aims to move the UPS from its conventional below the working desk position to become part of the working desktop. It has been incorporated with interesting value added features such as a mobile phone charger, digital clock and a CD rack, which help the UPS make the transformation from a lacklustre below-the-table device to a funky desktop accessory," explains Shombit Sengupta, founder of Shining Emotional
Surplus.
The UPS system has been designed
for WeP Peripherals Ltd. Available in a range of colour combinations, the UPS is priced at Rs 5,000.
"When we received the brief to create a product, our team was convinced that it had to break the conventional norms of designing in order to stand out in a crowd, not just in India but globally as well. That's how we came up with the idea of a UPS that combines utility with an exceptional aesthetic appearance and a host of value added features," notes Mrinmoy Mukherjee, COO, Shining Emotional Surplus.
Shining, founded in Paris in 1984, has provided services in corporate transformation, branding, product design and retail design to several hundred corporations worldwide.
"Product design has so far been the forte of developed Western nations. We have invested a lot of time and money to develop a design process and team to deliver unique designs here in Bangalore. The value that Shining brings to its clients is in creating enduring strategies that enable growth," contends Sengupta.
