Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is in the process of compiling bills against private broadcasters, primarily news channels, who used the footage of the recently-concluded India-Pakistan cricket series beyond permissbile limits.

"Bills would be raised against channels that have used the footage beyond the permissible limit," Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy informed the Lok Sabha.

The Minister said Prasar Bharati had already issued legal notices to many channels to stop "unauthorised use" of footage, for which it had exclusive rights.

The defaulting channels included NDTV, Star News, Zee News, Headlines Today, Aaj Tak, Sun News, ESPN, Star Sports, Ten Sports and CNBC, he said.
