Communication through entertainment is how the 20-something entrepreneurs, Varun Raj and Saugat Bhattacharya, like to define the motto of their newly launched agency TryAngles.

A chance meeting with the UK based David Calderhead, the renowned creative professional with clients such as Ford and Mitsubishi, and the promise of financial assistance from him, led the duo to set up TryAngles Entertainment & Communication Pvt Ltd.

Though Raj and Bhattacharya have been making audio-visuals, corporate films and radio jingles for companies like Reliance, HDFC and SAB Miller for the last five years, they now "want to bring in the concept of corporate entertainment to India the way it is in the West," says Raj, director at TryAngles.

Entertainment, he says, will form the core of whatever they do - whether in organising the annual general meeting for a company or assisting in a new product launch.

"People tend to take more notice of a message when it is conveyed using entertainment as a medium. It is also retained longer," feels Raj. "Out-of-the-box thinking is what would set us apart," adds Bhattacharya, also a director at TryAngles.

Ever since its launch some weeks back, the company is flooded with offers to organise events. The directors, however, say that TryAngles will not diffuse its focus. The agency will do creative advertising, internal or external apart from product launches and events.

Through its association with Calderhead, the company is hoping to get some international work outsourced to India. The India advantage is not limited to costs, the executives feel.

"There are other cheaper options too, but the cultural diversity of the country makes it easier for us to come up with concepts that would work globally," says Bhattacharya.

However, TryAngles is aiming at striking a 50:50 ratio between local and international assignments. The company has set up a 2,800 sq ft office in Central Mumbai which houses its studios and graphics departments.

The company is also planning to venture into setting up showreel.in, an entertainment industry B2B site. The webportal will be a one-stop shop for filmmakers to enable them to plan their entire production on the desktop.

The data driven site will be open to members only and have sections like shoot locations, studios, a list of production vendors etc. The duo is still awaiting security clearance to put up the site.
