The Centre has identified at least one tourism hub in each state and six tourism circuits for integrated development, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
These include hill stations, mountains and caves, Tourism Minister Jagmohan said in a written reply.
He said though there has been a decline in tourist arrivals in 2001 and 2002, a revival trend was being witnessed since October last year.
The minister said foreign tourist arrivals during 2000, 2001 and 2002 stood at 2.65 million, 2.54 million and 2.36 million respectively.
He said the policy formulated for development, expansion and promotion of tourism laid emphasis on boosting eco-tourism, mountain tourism and adverture tourism.
