Titan centres to service mobiles, digital cameras

April 05, 2006 12:46 IST

Titan Industries plans to expand the services offered through its Watch Care Centres to include mobile phones and digital cameras as well.

Sandeep Kulhalli, business head -- retail service group, Titan Industries said, "Currently, the WCCs service one million customers a year, and we are trying to make them a one-stop shop for products other than watches alone."

The company plans to tie up with manufacturers to provide value-added service to the customers. One potential roadblock this plan could face is the existence of service centres of the mobile phone manufacturers.

Currently, the mobile manufacturers like Nokia and Sony Ericsson have their service centres and they may not be keen for a tie up.

Kulhalli added that the company is keen on tapping a larger market beyond the existing customers and would like to see the WCCs develop into service centres for the smaller consumer products. Kulhalli said the WCCs are profitable ventures for the franchisees and add tremendous value to the brand.

In addition to the WCC, the retail services group has also set up a BPO and website for the newly launched high end brand 'Xylys' where customers can call and have their watches picked from and delivered at their doorstep instead of going to a service centre.

The company already has 100 WCCs in 50 towns, most of which are located either within or close to a 'World of Titan' showroom.
