In an interactive session with Tibetan Trade Delegation on 'Trade Prospects of West Bengal with Tibet' commissioner of the Tibetan province Shannan, Deji said, "We want to open more trade routes with India besides Nathu La."
She also stated that due to communication and transportation problems, trade between the two countries was not increasing.
This delegation has visited Indian trade fair at New Delhi and is going to various Indian states to get acquainted with the Indian business. The team had recently visited Bangalore and Mumbai.
Deji said that to initiate the trade and commerce between the two countries they would first like to build friendship between the two countries, where the mutual trust and respect would increase.
She added, "We don't like the trading commodities to remain confined to the 15 items as stated by the governments."
The major products from Tibet were animal products and animal hides, which could be exported to India.
Besides, Tibet was interested in exporting processed food products like garlic-based products. Tibet was interested in importing Indian traditional goods like handicrafts of cotton.
In the last three months, 1.5 lakhs tourists visited Tibet but few were from India.
