Thai Airways International has introduced a new flight between Bangkok and Chennai which will operate four times a week.
The Bangkok-Chennai-Dubai service was expected to cater to the growing number of business and leisure travellers between the two countries, especially in the wake of the Thai government's policy to open a free trade area with India, Chaiwat Chanapai, vice president, sales and distribution, Thai Airways, told reporters in Chennai.
The new service, which came into operation from Monday will be operated every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday -- leaving Bangkok at 1055 hrs and arriving Chennai at 1245 hrs.
The flight would leave Chennai at 1400 hrs and reach Dubai at 1645 hrs.
In the return direction, the flight would leave Dubai at 1755 hrs and arrive in Chennai at 2305 hrs, leave Chennai at 0015 hrs and reach Bangkok at 0500 hrs the next day.
Thai Airways currently flies to three destinations in India -- a daily flight to Delhi and three flights to Kolkata and Mumbai. Chennai is the fourth destination while a service to Bangalore is on the cards for the summer schedule next year.
