Buoyed by the sales of its popular GSM phone 'Corby', electronics and home appliances manufacturer Samsung India launched on Tuesday the company's first touch screen enabled phone Corby SPEED equipped with CDMA technology.
Targeted at the growing young audience, Samsung India vice-president-HHP division Hendrick Lee said the phone has direct access to social networking websites. It also enables the users to access website at a speed of 2.4Mbps data speed on CDMA operators.
The Rs 10,400 phone comes with 80MB internal memory and can store up to 1,600 songs. Samsung India also launched another CDMA enabled multimedia phone 'Mpower Muzik 219' priced at Rs 3,599.
The phone is equipped with 1.3MP camera and FM with recording facility, Samsung India head-marketing Dinesh Varma said.
Targeting those users who prefer both CDMA and GSM enabled dual phones, the company also launched Samsung Duos 259.
The phone is priced at Rs 8,350, he said. While the Samsung Corby SPEED was already available, the Muzik 219 and Duos 259 are expected to hit the market by January 2010.
Samsung currently has CDMA phones in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 12,500.
It has 10,000 retail outlets across the country, he added.
