iPad comes to the rescue of sumo wrestlers

Size does matter! You may be fascinated by the latest sleek smart phones, but Japan's sumo wrestlers are not.

These smart phones appear tiny to them and they have a harrowing time typing on small keys as they end up pressing more than one key with their fat fingers.

But they need not struggle any longer. Coming to them are the flashy Apple iPads.

The Japan Sumo Association plans to gift iPads to improve communication between coaches, wrestlers and association officials, says a Financial Times report

The association is spending $35,644 on iPad after a series of scandals have hit sponsorship and television exposure for this sport.

The messages which were sent by fax or telephone will now be replaced by e-mails. Japan's newspapers also say the iPad was selected as larger touch-screen keys would be easier for wrestlers, whose average weight is around 150 kg.
