The department of personnel and training has shortlisted eight names for replacing the two retiring members of the Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). The names have been forwarded to the department of telecom which will take the final decision.
The eight names include retired IAS officials N K Sinha, (Bihar 1966), AK Goswami (Himachal Pradesh 1966), Ashok Pradhan ( Assam 1967), PV Iyer ( Andhra Pradesh 1966), C G Reddy (Karnataka- 1966), Bhure Lal (1966) and one non IAS official MK Zutshi.
The names have been cleared by the Cabinet Secretariat. The two TDSAT retiring members are SUS Prasad and Das Gupta. Justice S K Wadhwa will continue to be the chairman of the tribunal.
Prasad and Das Gupta had precided over controversial decisions like that of WLL limited mobility. They had given a verdict in favour of WLL services even as the chairperson gave a dissenting order.
Das Gupta and Prasad had also given the nod for the use of mobile switching centre for WLL operators. They have been given a two month extension till the government finalises the replacement.
