The advertising business for the mobile brand to be launched by Tata TeleServices and Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile is up for grabs.

A host of major media agencies have made a pitch for the business said to be upwards of Rs 30 crore. According to advertising industry sources, the agencies made their presentations in Mumbai recently.

It has been reported that Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile and Tata Teleservices are joining hands to launch Virgin in India.

Tata Teleservices, which operates a cellular business under the Tata Indicomm brand name, has more than 13 million customers. However, Tata Indicomm is seen as a mass market brand and is believed that Virgin Mobile, to be licensed by Richard Branson's company, will attract young customers.

Virgin Mobile, it has been suggested, will also lend its marketing expertise to the venture.

This tie-up offers the UK company an opportunity to enter India's burgeoning mobile phone market. The British billionaire's company already has a presence in the country through Virgin Atlantic airline and a technical tie-up with Hindustan Times' FM radio.
