Continuing with its global takeover spree, homegrown conglomerate Tata group has acquired Japanese auto giant Nissan's truck manufacturing plant in South Africa.

"Nissan's manufacturing unit in South Africa has been acquired," a company spokesperson said.

He, however, declined to give details, including the valuation of the deal, saying it had been done by Tata Africa Holdings.

The acquisition of Nissan's facility in Pretoria will augment Tata's expansion in South Africa's automobile market. Tata Motors already has a bus assembly unit in Johannesburg.
