Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd on Wednesday said it would acquire the business and assets of Wundsch Weidinger, a German automotive components supplier, for an undisclosed sum.

The German company which makes functional plastic parts and systems for the automotive industry had 270 employees and had filed for insolvency in March 2005, Taco said in a release in Mumbai.

The acquisition would be made through the 100 per cent subsidiary set up in Germany for this purpose, Taco said.

The acquisition would provide access to the European market for the interiors business of Taco.

Weidinger's facility is located in Coburg in the state of Bavaria (Germany) and offers development, tool shop, precision injection moulding, surface enrichment and assembly operations, it said.

The major customers who are original equipment manufacturers include Audi, Bentley, BMV, Daimler Chrysler, Volkswagen and Volvo, it added.
