Suzlon bags deal from US firm

Suzlon Energy Ltd on Monday said its US subsidiary Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation has bagged turbine supply order from US-based Edison Mission Group.

The company has received the order from Edison Mission Group for supply of wind turbine with a total capacity of 157.50 megawatts, to be delivered in 2006-07, it informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

With this the company has, as on date, an order book position of Rs 4,232 crore (Rs 42.32 billion) comprising of Rs 1,613 crore (Rs 16.13 billion) of domestic orders and Rs 2,619 crore (Rs 26.19 billion) of export orders, it said.

Suzlon Energy Ltd today posted a four-fold rise in net profit at Rs 161.94 crore (Rs 1.61 billion) for the quarter ended December 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 37.28 crore (Rs 372.8 million) for the same quarter in 2004-05.

The total income has increased to Rs 881.84 crore (Rs 8.81 billion) for the third quarter in current fiscal from Rs 290.45 crore (Rs 2.90 billion) in the year-ago period, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The board of directors have declared an interim dividend of Rs 2.50 per share on equity shares of Rs 10 each for the year 2005-06, it added.
