Suzlon Wind Energy Espana SLU, Spain, a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of the company has entered into a pact with EUFER -- a joint venture between Enel Green Energy and Spanish utility firm Union Fenosa -- for renewable energy business in Spain and Portugal.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Suzlon Energy said Suzlon Wind Energy Espana SLU, Spain, "has secured a new framework agreement with EUFER" for supply of wind turbines.
According to the pact, Suzlon would supply and install 2.1 MW wind turbines for wind farms totaling 224.5 MW.
"This project underlines our commitment to Spanish wind energy market, not just as a supplier, but also in creating infrastructure and employment," Erik Winther Pedersen, Chief Executive of Suzlon Wind Energy A/S --Suzlon's Europe and Latin American arm, said.
"These machines are proposed to be installed up to financial year 2010-2011," the filing said. The company also announced plans to set up a blades manufacturing facility in Andalusia, Spain. The facility is expected to be commissioned by December 2010.
