Employees of public sector banks on Wednesday withdrew their proposed strike on Friday, called to protest the cases filed by the management of Central Bank of India against its employees for going on strike last month.
Employees of Central Bank of India had earlier decided to go on strike from February 22 and employees of other banks were to go on strike the following day.
However, the management of the bank on Tuesday decided to withdraw complaints filed against more than 5,000 employees and agreed to sort out all issues through talks. The staff union, therefore, decided to call off the strike, C H Venkatchalam, General Secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), said.
Central Bank of India employees had gone on strike on January 22 to protest what they called the "management's attack on their rights and unilateral changes in staff-related policies."
