Strike call by airline employees withdrawn

The one day strike by airline employees, including pilots, demanding revocation of tax on perks, scheduled for Thursday, has been called off.

The strike has been withdrawn following the finance ministry's assurance that the matter relating to exemption of free pass perks would be considered favourably, spokesman of the National Action Committee of all airline employees George Abraham told PTI in Mumbai on Wednesday.

"A communication to this effect was received by us late on Tuesday night from the civil aviation ministry and hence the
strike call has been withdrawn," he added.

All the employees belonging to domestic, including private, and international airlines, were to go on a 24-hour nationwide strike beginning 0600 IST on Thursday to demand revocation of tax on free and concessional air tickets to employees.
