Ravishankar Prasad, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, said on Friday that the proposed uplinking of Star TV for providing 24-hour India-centric news will soon be taken to the Cabinet for approval.

Addressing newspersons in Patna on Friday, Prasad said his ministry would give priority to those foreign channels, which were 'focussed on India,' adding that neither CNN nor BBC have shown any ineterest in this regard.

Stating that he was not in favourĀ of 'moral policing,' Prasad said there should be certain restrictions on what is being telecast.

"I am against live telecast of riots. It is not going to serve any purpose," Prasad said.

When asked how his ministry will stop this practice of live telecast of riots by TV news channels, he said that some kind of content regulation is necessary for it. "We are planning to set up a professional body to look into this," he said.
