The research firm ranked small car Chevrolet Spark as the leader in terms of quality in the compact car segment with a score of 127, mid-size sedan Chevrolet Aveo topped the midsize segment with a score of 109 while Chevrolet Optra (97) was ranked highest in the premium midsize segment, GM India said in a statement.
GM India's premium compact car Chevrolet Aveo U-VA and multi-utility vehicle Chevrolet Tavera emerged as the second best in their respective segments, it said.
"The recent findings of the JD Power Asia Pacific India Initial Quality Study (IQS) released on Wednesday validate our commitment to bring world-class products to India. The impressive performance of all our carlines this year is also a clear indication of growing customer confidence in our vehicles," GM India president and managing director Karl Slym said.
The study is measured on the basis of customer experience after two to six months of ownership. The ISQ examines more than 200 problem symptoms in two categories- quality of design and quality of production - across eight vehicle components.
Overall quality performance is based on both design quality and production quality problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), with lower scores indicating a lower rate of problem incidence and higher vehicle quality.
"The recent model launches from Chevrolet, combined with its aggressive efforts in improving product quality, underscore the brand's growing success in the Indian market," J.D Power Asia Pacific, Singapore senior director Mohit Arora said.
