New foreign trade policy to enhance tea exports

Last updated on: September 1, 2009

Tea exporters in Siliguri in West Bengal are upbeat thanks to the new provision bringing the tea industry under the Vishesh Krishi Upaj Yojana or the VKUY scheme in the new foreign trade policy.

This move is expected to give a boost to its export in the global market. As per the VKUY scheme, the export of tea will be eligible for duty scrip equivalent to 5 per cent of FOB value.
