Budget 2009: Jewellery traders rue increased duty on gold

Jewellery traders in Rajkot on lamented the loss of business due to the rise in the import duty on gold announced by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Budget.

Jewellery traders said on Tuesday that the exemption of branded jewellery from excise duty will have a marginal effect on the traders as only few customers buy branded jewellery.
