According to Kolkata-based economist Prasanta Roy Choudhury, the Railway Budget that Mamata Banerjee presented on Wednesday was one of the best ones in recent times.
"This year's Railway Budget virtually took care of every aspect," he said.
"Be it generating employment, not hiking passenger fares except for those of freight, taking care of the heritage of the Railways, enhancing countrywide connectivity, Banerjee should be lauded for compiling one of the most amazing papers," he said.
Roy Chowdhury felt excited about all the new projects that Bengal would be getting.
"West Bengal still lags so much behind in every aspect. I am happy to see our railway minister putting in such a dedicated effort to better the economy of the state," he told rediff.com shortly after the Railway Budget was tabled in Parliament.
