The ongoing bull run continued on first trading day of the week and the markets closed at all time high. The markets opened on a very strong note today and traded stable through the day. Buying interest was witnessed across the sectors and the volumes were impressive.
The Sensex closed up 73.11 points or 0.52% at 14129.64, and the Nifty was up 25.95 points or 0.64% at 4078.4.
About 1732 shares have advanced, 899 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.
Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Ranbaxy Labs and L&T were the top gainers on the Sensex.
SAIL, VSNL, Siemens and Tata Steel were the top gainers on the Nifty.
Maruti Udyog, ICICI Bank, Hero Honda, BHEL, BPCL, HPCL and MTNL were the top losers on the indices.
The BSE Auto index was up 0.26% or 14.79 points at 5652.55. MICO, Hind Motors, M&M, Cummins, Punj Tractors gained.
The BSE Bankex gained 0.26% or 19.01 points at 7,402.26. UTI Bank, Centurion BoP, HDFC Bank, IOB, Federal Bank moved up.
The BSE Capital Good index closed up 1.51% or 138.08 points at 9,266.27. Praj Industries, Siemens, BEML, Thermax, KEC Infrastructure, L&T ended in green.
The BSE FMCG index was up 0.31% or 5.91 points at 1,933.38. Britannia, HLL, United Spirits, Tata Tea, P&G closed positive.
The BSE Healthcare index gained 0.96% or 37.17 points at 3,908.73. Orchid Chemical, Sterling Bio, Ranbaxy Labs, Nicholas Piramal, Sun Pharma, Novartis India advanced.
The BSE IT index surged 0.90% or 48.27 points at 5,396.37. HCL Info, Infosys, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, TCS moved up.
The BSE Metal index ended up 2.67% or 241.52 points at 9,271.41. SAIL, Jindal Saw, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Hind Zinc, JindalStainless closed up.
The BSE Oil & gas index was up 0.78% or 51.28 points at 6,610.55. Reliance Natura, MRPL, Petronet LNG, Reliance gained.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8500.29 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 26718.03 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4678.53 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 39896.85 crore.
