Seagate's disk drives in India

March 03, 2005 15:40 IST
Hard disk maker Seagate Technology on Thursday entered the retail segment in India with the launch of three external hard disk drives.

The company, which was selling to original equipment manufacturers and through resellers to PC assemblers, will now look at all the channels available for marketing the products launched on Thursday.

Apart from the external hard disk drives, the company also unveiled a compact flash photo hard drive.

"We will market hard disk drives through traditional IT channels and non-IT channels. For flash photo hard drives, we will tap photography channels," Sharad Srivastava, country manager, Seagate said.

The external disk drives have been priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,500 and have a capacity ranging from 2.5 giga byte to 400 giga byte. The flash photo drive will be made available in India later this year.

The disk drives will be available in 12 cities through a partner of Seagate distributor eSys.
