Global provider of voice and data roaming solutions, Roamware Inc will invest Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million) in its India development centre, located at Powai in suburban Mumbai, over a three-year period.

"The investment would be used for enhancing the centre's infrastructure, equipment and laboratory facilities, and is keeping with the targeted business growth for the company in the coming years," Roamware chief operating officer Bobby Srinivasan told reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday.

At present, the development centre employs 145 engineers and technical professionals and supports the company's worldwide engineering, research & development, global support, product management and marketing, he said.

The company also appointed Mohan Gyani as its new chief executive officer and chairman. Prior to joining Roamware, Gyani was the president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Mobility services. The present chairman Ori Sasson would continue as the co-chairman of the company.

The India development centre accounts for 75-80 per cent of the worldwide headcount and is a significant part of the company's worldwide investments, Gyani said.

Meanwhile, the company has signed its 100th customer with the bagging of Slovakia's Orange network for its roaming platform, he said.

With 100 networks employing Roamware solutions across 63 countries, the California-based company leads the development and deployment of revenue-generating applications for roaming and home network implementation, he added.
